The importance of English

The English, for some time has become the universal language, which all must learn due to globalization that there are today. The learning part in schools and later is taught at universities including in this University. Learning English at the university has become a prerequisite for the development of our skills as professionals, in my case as a future psychologist. In my career, the training includes, apart from to reflection and criticism of theories, lots of reading. Is necessary to keep informed and updated about the latest theoretical publications. This point is fundamentall because many of the publications are in English. If one has not learned the language, is limited to access knowledge of the texts in Spanish.

The importance of the school in promoting English learning is essential. In my personal experience, I can say that my school is not incentive to learn this language, there was not English program according to each course with defined objectives. Moreover, the importance of learning English was not transmited in my school, this means that I never has the need to know this language. What happens is different now that I'm finishing the career, at this moment I feel the need to learn English, because I've been involved in situations within the career in which the power to interpret what a text says in this language is necessary. That's where English has been meaningful to me. With what I said before, I mean that the importance of learning is in that we use what we have learned in everyday situations, in which the use of this language is necessary.

This is a critique at the education, since they teach us things that are not applied in our daily lives, this makes that do not having sense and that soon we forget this learning. Now I can not forget what I learned in English, because every time, I used this language within in my career..

Finally, I add, that schools and universities should teach not only the language but must transmit the importance of learning for our daily lives and also that this learning can be applied in the work we do every day, is useless to learn something that only applies when I go to class. So it makes sense to me that recently I Just learn English because I'm just starting to use it within psychology, in the translating texts and publications that are important to my training as a psychologist.

Correct a classmate´s blog

I would like to go to visit Peru, because that is one of Latin American countries that I don't know . I know Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. I think Peru is a country that respects its culture, and specifically native peoples, something that is forgotten in Chile.

First I’d like to visit Lima, walking through its streets and know your people, but I'd like to know more about Peru, as visit machupichu and, know how they got to build such strengths besides his knowledge of the nature.

other feature of Peru that I'd like to know is, on the use of hallucinogenic plants as a central part of certain indigenous communities. especifically the use of ayahuasca, which also goes by the name of the dead rope, because according to the belief of the indigenous peoples who consume it, cause the separation of body and soul, which causes the soul journey to the spirit world and connect with the ancestors.

Finally use of Ayahuasca today is associated with the treatment of individuals addicted to other drugs such as cocaine and alcohol. is interesting the power of this plant to heal both physical and emotional problems, however its use should be respected and made within the context of Peruvian Indigenous peoples, since its use is deeply rooted in their culture.

Well, the text written by my classmate Fernando Henríquez was fairly well written. There are some minor errors corrected, maybe there are more but I have not all the knowledge in this language to be able of to realize all the corrections.

I believe that is very interesting what my classmate wrote. I have a very similar opinion to him, even this summer, me and a friend, we will visit Peru because as Fernando, we believe it is a very interesting country in terms of their culture, traditions and historical monuments.

In relation to what my classmate Fernando wrote on ayahuasca., I might add that this is a hallucinogenic plant very used by native peoples of Peru and throughout Latin America to communicate with the ancestors. The use of ayahuaca has been known throughout the world attracting the attention of hundreds of people watching this sacred plant as the solution for many of the mental and emotional problems that affect people. However, ordinary people, that do not know this plant, they think that ayahuasca is a typical plant used as drug or to enjoy a moment, ignoring the use healing that has been used for hundreds of years and the respect the indigenous culture of Peru has with she.

This summer I will visit Peru and especially the center where they work with the use of ayahuasca. I find it very interesting to learn more about its history, uses and consequences. I think little by little we must preserve the traditions of all indigenous peoples of Latin America so that his story is not forgotten.

Next Elections!

That great topics!, well, I am registered on the electoral registers, because I thinks that is very important that all young who are 18 years or more, to register to vote in elections. President of Chile is elected by us, is the highest authority that governs our country. All laws passed through his hands. Is very important who is in the centre of power. Is important not only is person, too, the political group behind the candidate. I will vote in December by Marco Enriquez Ominami, because for me he is the candidate who most represents my ideals and my thinking. I think that maybe has not experienced enough to be in front of the country, but I prefer him, before than Piñera or Frei. I do not feel represented by them. I think that their faces are very repeated in the scene politics. Piñera, is a businessman, he drives an important proportion of companies in our country, and he supports the capitalist system. Frei, was president, and I think he is being selfish to want to be president again, as if in Chile, a country of 16 million people, there are no more people able to be president of the republic. He already had her period; I think their presence is unnecessary, because he is very old. Marco Enriquez has a social conscience, and when he speaks, he knows what he says. He has very clear ideas and is the only one, when I see it on TV, he does not use populars phrase. The words coming out of his mouth make sense. Arrate finally, I think he has nice ideas, but those are not based in reality.
I don’t would like participate in politics to be president, senator or deputy, but I would to help since my place of psychologist for example, helping in education policies, which is the theme I like psychology, and I believe, is the basis for the Chilean society to prosper fully.

Bike tree!!

The news said that Japan developed cutting edge technology in its design. This is a bicycle parking or "Bike Tree", very unusual, but useful in many ways. This invention arose as a result of people leaving in the streets, piled bicycles, representing a nuisance and disorder to the people and the environment. This invention was created by a company dedicated to engineering works called JFE, which aimed to give a solution to this problem. I think the bike is a very useful means of transport, non-polluting, reduces space and contributes to the maintenance of good health of people, so that any government measure to promote cycling is valid . This is a sign that Japan is one of the most developed countries in the world, and to which we must imitate in certain respects. In Chile, yet the culture of cycling is not fully released, but every day more people decide to leave their cars or public transport for a bicycle, which can be faster, healthier, and decontamination. Despite this, the Chilean government still does not implement the roads passable streets or “bike paths, ", so that people are constantly exposed to danger. Bicycle parking helps people use their bikes more, for the safety of this system.

I believe that this new bicycle parking system is very modern for use in Chile, need a big investment of money. I think in our country there are other more important problems to solve, but I think it is a very good idea.
